Your reflections are always so clarifying for me ☺️Forgiveness is something I think about a lot. It’s a feeling of neutrality around a person or situation for me. Like a real feeling of neutrality - not me wrestling my anger enough so it’s quiet enough for me to be around them. Often times to get there I need space away from the person or situation. Like months or even years.

For a couple of my toxic family members who are always looking for forgiveness… I think they’re really looking for my allowance or permission for them to continue their bullshit. They don’t really care about how I feel in it. I love the discussion about forgiveness bc it looks so different for everyone! Muah!

Always love love love these episodes. Can you please share the link to the PT person/videos you mention that they have available online? Needing to wrap our head around how to train for this trip we committed to in the autumn.

WOW! I have so missed Rose Thorn Bud monthly reflections (though being part of the Honest Conversation Club has just been the best) so what a wonderful treat to get this as a reader this month. Thanks so much for Julia & your sharing and thank you for offering the List Magic Making (a bit of creative reordering of these words) session!!!!!!!! I CANNOT WAIT

I stumbled upon a Hawaiian prayer of forgiveness a few years ago and have found using it as a journaling concept incredibly healing. Often I start because I’m trying to find peace about a situation with someone and discover I’m actually holding onto a lot of resentment towards myself- about my own reaction, coping mechanisms etc.

There are likely other resources better describing its background but here’s a simple explainer:

Thanks for sharing this conversation, Nicole! Re: forgiveness, you and Julia might love this podcast episode: http://www.blissandgrit.com/blog/forgiveness

It's from the podcast "Bliss and Grit," which has been one of my favorites this past year. Very nuanced & articulate down-to-earth conversations, they explore the embodied spiritual path.

I had a quote on my wall for the past two years (maybe a Marianne Williamson quote??) which read " 'Judgement is the withholding of forgiveness of those in pain.' [You are afraid to love that which you judge]" so that's where my mind went when you mentioned forgiveness. For me it's an internal shift that happens in Right Timing, not an outward choice that can be forced. <3
