I’m only 15 mins in and already obsessed. Is it possible for people to pay for this content specifically? Thinking of gifting it to a friend as an example. Thanks for sharing. Excited for you to be pursuing this experiment and to join you on this journey

Oo interesting question! No, there is only one main subscription, but once someone is subscribed they can customize which email notifications they receive. So for example if someone only wanted to receive emails about new posts in this money series they could turn off all the other aspects of my Substack. Hope that helps!

There is so much in there to prompt reflection! I’m curious to think about where in my life I already am participating in other types of economies and where I could.

I’d love to dig more into investing too. The fact that most of the “ethical funds” I can invest in through my credit union or easily accessible platforms all include Amazon, Apple, etc. makes me question their definition of ethical.

THIS! I'm definitely going to talk to some folks about other types of investments.

I’m loving this research project *SO MUCH*! And I’m so looking forward to listening to this one! I read “right livelihood” and something immediately clicks in my brain and heart. I’m so grateful for this space you’ve created, Nic, and for the wonderful community that nurtures it.

Aw, thanks Claudia! Yeah, Della's work resonates with me a lot. She has so many good links on her website of interviews she's done (including around the topic of right livelihood!) that I bet you'd enjoy: https://www.dellazduncan.com/about-3

I could (and very likely will) go down a rabbit hole exploring the resources you mention. Thank you for sharing, and for this incredible conversation. My brain broke multiple times while listening to your conversation, it’s so eye-opening. What Della shares rubs against a whole set of beliefs I inherited while simultaneously creating so much space and possibility for something different. I am so looking forward to exploring the topic of enough-ness with you and the rest of the community starting from tomorrow.

GREAT conversation!! LOVED it!! Thank you, Nic. I promise I’m not shouting but THIS IS HOW I LIVED IN INDIA!!!!! I’d pop into my neighbor’s all the time for an onion or a cup of sugar or a banana—and she did the same with me. It’s how I grew up. I watched my mother do it all the time. It’s what I miss the most about living in India, this idea of sharing and giving and gifting without even attaching names or concepts to it. One of the things we did and I continue to do is: when someone comes to your home and brings you a bowl of something, we never return the bowl empty. It’s always filled with something we make. I think it’s a beautiful and caring practice and I’m glad I haven’t given it up.

"Never return the bowl empty" is such a lovely principle. Thanks for sharing, Uma!
