This right here is everything. I am reading this as I’m at a hospice with my beloved 95 year old grandmother who is in her final
hours. It has been and continues to be an honor to be with her but I have been struggling with the surrender of this transition. I have been trying to “control” the end of this journey and *finally* realized that I needed to do just this… take a deep breath and let go. Then this came today. It is okay to surrender when it’s for love and acceptance. It’s not a sign of failure but strength.
I am a hospice nurse and you are giving your grandmother the greatest and most necessary gift for this moment: letting go. Sending love from an Internet stranger.
Thank you times a million for all of the love sent by each of you. She peacefully passed while I held her hand and it was the most beautiful thing I have ever been a part of. Being able to take a deep breath and let go made this experience possible.
Looks like I also have a reason to share this happy day with you! I passed my master’s thesis defense! Some of your writings have pushed me forward during the darkest times in this last year or so. Thank you again for all you do.
Congratulations, Nicole!! What an incredible accomplishment! I cannot wait to devour my copy.
As an aside, my favorite moment of this weeks letter:
"Our job is to make the art. Our job is to live the life. Make things that feel good to make, and then let those things go out into the world. Make and release." Beautiful.
Thank you, friend! Because of your sweet and thoughtful text on Friday I was able to hold a mindset of such gratitude all weekend leading up to pub day. I went on a lovely hike in the woods, got a pedicure, and drank my favorite kombucha in the backyard sun. Thank you for encouraging me to celebrate!
Powerful thoughts, beautifully written. And congratulations on your book. I’ve hiked a little bit of the Arizona Trail, and look forward to hiking more and reading your book.
Thanks, Kim! I hope you love it!
