Wild Letters is a newsletter about self-exploration and building a right-fit life.
Thank you for being here with me!
My whole heart is in LA right now — the city of my birth, the place where I got sober, first became an athlete, and first got married, a city of memories and beloveds. For all my readers who are impacted directly by these fires, I hope so deeply that you are safe. For folks who are able to support fire-related mutual aid efforts, I’ll link you to this excellent round-up by Kelly Hayes. So much love & solidarity to all.
My dear reader.
Today I’d like to write to you about money, and in particular about five things I decided to do differently in my own financial life over the past year.
As you read this, please know that I’m not claiming these decisions as the “right” or “best” ones, nor am I trying to create a particular blueprint for others to follow. I do not have any agenda here other than to tell the truth about my own messy experiments in self-exploration, as well as to continually opt-out of the silence and taboo that capitalism wants us to maintain about money.
2024 was perhaps the most awake and present I’ve ever been in my financial life, or rather it was the year when that presence finally made me willing to do big, tangible things differently in order to better align my money with my values. There is still so much more that I would like to try in the months and years ahead (and so much more for me to learn!) and toward the end of this piece I’ll share the four main shifts I plan to make in 2025. You are welcome to share yours, too!
I so appreciate you being here with me for these ongoing essays about money that I weave throughout Wild Letters, and for the ways you always engage in this often fraught and emotionally-charged topic with curiosity and kindness.
Okay, here we go.
